IBPS PO 2026 Registration Ends Tomorrow: 6,715 Posts, Apply Now

The countdown has begun. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will close the online registration window for IBPS PO Recruitment 2026 (CRP PO/MT-XVI) tomorrow, July 21, 2026. Graduates who dream of a public sector bank officer’s job have barely 24 hours left to submit their application at the official website — ibps.in.

This year’s recruitment drive is one of the biggest in recent memory. A total of 6,715 indicative vacancies have been announced for IBPS PO 2026, which is 1,507 more than the initial vacancies released in the previous recruitment cycle — a jump of nearly 29 per cent. Even better for aspirants, the final tally is expected to rise, as three participating banks — Indian Bank, UCO Bank, and Union Bank of India — are yet to report their vacancy numbers.

Who Can Apply for IBPS PO 2026?

The eligibility bar is simple: any graduate between 20 and 30 years of age can apply, regardless of the subject or stream studied. Age relaxation applies as per government norms for reserved categories. Selected candidates join as Probationary Officers/Management Trainees in one of the 11 participating public sector banks under the Government of India, with a starting basic pay of Rs 48,480 plus DA, HRA, and other allowances.

How to Apply Online Before the Deadline — Step-by-Step

  • Step 1: Visit the official website ibps.in
  • Step 2: Click on the CRP PO/MT-XVI “Apply Online” link on the homepage
  • Step 3: Register with a valid email ID and mobile number
  • Step 4: Fill in personal, educational, and preference details carefully
  • Step 5: Upload scanned photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration in the prescribed format
  • Step 6: Pay the application fee online — Rs 850 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and Rs 175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates (inclusive of GST); the fee, once paid, is non-refundable
  • Step 7: Submit and download the confirmation page for future reference

Applicants should not wait until the final hours. Server slowdowns and payment gateway failures are common on deadline day, and IBPS does not entertain requests after the window shuts.

What Happens After Registration? Key Exam Dates

The Prelims exam will be conducted on August 22 and 23, 2026, while the Mains exam is scheduled for October 4, 2026. Candidates who clear Prelims will move to Mains, followed by the Personality Test and Interview — making this a four-stage selection process for the first time.

Aspirants should also note key changes introduced this cycle: the Mains exam will now carry 170 questions for 200 marks, a new UDID card authentication requirement has been added for PwBD candidates at registration, and an Edit Application Window will open for two days after registration closes — a relief for candidates who spot errors in their submitted forms. In another applicant-friendly move, the credit history requirement mentioned in earlier IBPS PO notifications has been removed from the 2026 notification.

Why IBPS PO 2026 Is the Banking Job to Grab This Year

With over 6,700 posts, a nearly 29 per cent vacancy jump, a simplified eligibility clause, and a transparent Common Recruitment Process running since 2011, IBPS PO remains the most sought-after route to becoming a bank officer in India. Final vacancies may climb further once the remaining three banks report their numbers — so an application filed today could compete for an even larger pool of posts.
