TGBIE Extends Telangana Intermediate Admissions 2026 Deadline; Check Revised Schedule

The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has extended the admission schedule for first-year Intermediate courses for the 2026–27 academic session, allowing eligible students to complete the admission process until August 15, 2026. The revised schedule was announced through a circular issued by the Secretary of TGBIE, providing additional time for students seeking admission to junior colleges across the state. The extension applies to admissions in Government, private aided, private unaided, co-operative, Telangana Residential, Telangana Social Welfare Residential, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential, Telangana Model, Backward Classes Welfare, Incentive Junior and Composite Degree Colleges affiliated with the board.

The board has advised parents and students to secure admission only in TGBIE-affiliated junior colleges to ensure the validity of their enrolment. Candidates have been urged to verify the affiliation status of institutions before taking admission. The official list of affiliated junior colleges has been made available on the TGBIE portals, enabling students to confirm whether their chosen institution is recognised by the board.

Along with the revised admission schedule, TGBIE has reiterated the reservation policy that all junior colleges must strictly implement during the admission process. 

The Board has also issued detailed operational guidelines that all principals are required to follow while conducting admissions. Admissions must be granted solely based on the candidate’s Grade Point Average (GPA), subject-wise grade points, and marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

The board has made Aadhaar submission mandatory for all students seeking admission, including those enrolling in Government junior colleges. Private unaided institutions have been instructed to admit students only within the number of sanctioned sections, with a maximum strength of 88 students per section. Colleges have also been directed to display the daily status of sanctioned, filled and vacant seats prominently at their entrance to maintain transparency throughout the admission process.

Among the special provisions introduced by the board, principals have been instructed to record the mother’s name instead of the father’s name for children of Jogini women, in accordance with the details mentioned in the qualifying examination records. Institutions have also been directed to ensure adequate security arrangements for girl students and obtain a mandatory Anti-Drug Declaration signed by both students and their parents at the time of admission.

In addition, the board has reminded colleges of their responsibilities under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. If a foreign national or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) is admitted, the institution must forward the candidate’s Form-II details to the local police station within 24 hours of admission. TGBIE has cautioned that institutions failing to comply with the prescribed admission guidelines and statutory requirements may face strict action, including penalties and possible disaffiliation from the board.
