University of Aberdeen India Campus | University of Aberdeen, UK Gets UGC Approval for Mumbai Campus; Admissions Begin in September

The University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, has received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish its campus in Mumbai. The university will begin the admission process for its inaugural batch from September 2026.

Eligible candidates will be able to apply for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes through the university’s official website.

The Mumbai campus aims to provide students with access to internationally recognised Scottish education while developing critical thinking, analytical and leadership skills needed in a rapidly evolving global economy.

The University of Aberdeen’s Mumbai campus will offer undergraduate programmes in:

• Business Management
• Computing Science
• Data Science

The postgraduate programmes include:

• Artificial Intelligence
• Master of Business Administration (MBA)

According to the university, the programmes have been designed to combine academic rigour with experiential learning, research-led teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Peter Edwards, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, described the UGC approval as a landmark moment for the institution.

“Receiving the Letter of Approval from the University Grants Commission marks a significant milestone in the University of Aberdeen’s journey to establish our Mumbai campus. We are delighted to bring our globally recognised, research-led education to one of the world’s most dynamic student communities,” he said.

Edwards added that the university aims to deliver an educational experience centred on academic excellence, global perspectives and industry engagement.

“As we prepare to welcome our inaugural cohort, our goal is to provide an educational experience rooted in academic excellence, global perspectives and industry engagement, equipping graduates with the knowledge, critical thinking and adaptability to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world while strengthening the long-standing academic partnership between the UK and India,” he said.

The university said students at the Mumbai campus will become part of a global academic community and gain opportunities to develop practical, analytical and leadership skills valued by employers worldwide.

According to the institution, its teaching approach places strong emphasis on independent thinking, problem-solving and preparing graduates for careers in an increasingly technology-driven and interconnected world.

The University of Aberdeen joins the growing list of international universities establishing campuses in India under the UGC’s regulations for foreign higher educational institutions, expanding opportunities for Indian students to pursue globally recognised degrees without leaving the country.
